How Does Chase Sapphire Reserve’s Travel Credit Impact the Signup Bonus?
When I applied for the Chase Sapphire Reserve card in January, the signup bonus was 100,000 Ultimate Rewards Points after spending $4,000 in the first 3 months. I’ve been asked what would happen if some of that spending was on travel, triggering the $300 travel credit. If the credit takes you back below $4,000, do you still get the points? I had already received some travel credits as soon as I got the card and was getting close to meeting my own spending requirement. So, I decided to test this for myself. My plan was simple: get to just over $4,000 in total spending and stop using the card. Other…

Amex Platinum Card to add Priority Pass Guest Benefit
UPDATE: The theory I shared in this post has been confirmed. See Below. Yesterday, American Express announced refreshed benefits for its Platinum Card as well as an increased annual fee. They proudly touted new Uber benefits, 5x Membership Rewards for certain hotel bookings, and a new metal Card design. Strangely, there’s one other enhanced benefit that American Express never mentioned. Beginning March 30, 2017, the Priority Pass guest policy for Platinum Card Members will change. At any visit to a Priority Pass lounge, all Platinum Card Members may bring in two guests for no charge. Card Members will be charged $27 for any additional guests. The old policy automatically charged $27…

With the Personal card, you earn 25,000 bonus Starpoints after you use your new Card to make $3,000 in purchases within the first 3 months and an extra 10,000 bonus Starpoints after you make an additional $2,000 in purchases within the first 6 months. Limited Time 50k Signup Bonus for BarclayCard Arrival+
For a limited time, you can get a 25% higher signup bonus for the BarclayCard Arrival Plus World Elite MasterCard. Instead of 40,000 “miles”, new cardholders who meet the spending requirement will receive 50,000 “miles”. As I wrote in my full review of the BarclayCard Arrival Plus, the word “miles” is only a marketing gimmick. The “miles” are really just points that you can redeem for statement credits against certain travel expenses. Effectively, it’s a cashback credit card with limitations on how you can redeem your points. Card Details Earn 40,000 50,000 bonus miles after you spend $3,000 on purchases in the first 90 days Earn 2X miles on all purchases Get 5% miles back after each redemption…

Double-Dipping the Chase Sapphire Reserve Travel Credit
NOTE: For applications after May 21, 2017, Chase has changed the date that the Reserve’s annual travel credit resets from each December to the first statement after your account anniversary. If you applied prior to May 21, 2017, the information in this post still applies. For those who applied more recently, please refer to the double-dipping information in this updated post. One of the most generous benefits of the Chase Sapphire Reserve credit card is its $300 annual travel credit. Even better, during the first year you have the card, you can receive the full travel credit twice–that’s $600–while paying only one annual fee of $450. You will have more…

Higher Credit Card Signup Bonuses In Chase Branches vs Online
There are multiple reports by Reddit Churning users who are seeing higher signup bonus offers in Chase bank branches than the normal bonuses online. These offers appear to be targeted to certain pre-approved customers so YMMV. Most of the Miles and Points blogs are not reporting on this since they are paid referral fees for credit card signups via their own online links. Sending readers to branches to apply for credit cards is bad for their business. This could be the beginning of Chase attempting to rein in some referral costs. Sapphire Preferred – 70,000 point bonus So far, the credit cards offering higher bonuses are Chase Sapphire Preferred and Chase…

Coming Soon: Chase Ink Business Preferred Credit Card
According to an article on Bloomberg, Chase is continuing its recent push to woo credit card users away from its competition–this time focusing on lucrative business owners. The new Ink Business Preferred‘s bonus structure appears to be targeted at a different type of user than Chase’s current line of Ink Business cards. Due to be launched in the 4th quarter, the Chase Ink Business Preferred will offer new applicants an 80,000-point signup bonus after spending $5,000 within the first three months. Card holders will also earn 3 points per $1 for the first $150,000 spent on travel, telecommunications, shipping and advertising on social-media and search engines.
