Alaska Air Lounges Nix Priority Pass Guest Access

Beginning May 1, Alaska Air will no longer accommodate guests of Priority Pass members at most of its airport lounges. The new access policy will be in effect at its lounges in Los Angeles (LAX), Seattle (SEA), and Portland, Oregon (PDX). As of this writing, Alaska’s Anchorage (ANC) lounge has not indicated any change in access. This policy change only affects Priority Pass members, not those with an Alaska Lounge membership. Alaska Lounge Members are welcome to bring immediate family (spouse or domestic partner and children under the age of 21) or as many as two guests at no extra charge. What is Priority Pass? Priority Pass is a membership club that provides frequent travelers…

Rundown of the Latest Amex Offers

A bunch of new Amex Offers have appeared over the last couple days-many are publicly available to add to your card(s) using twitter hashtags. Act fast to add the one’s you’re interested in, as these offers often sell out quickly. For newcomers to these deals, check out my primer: Amex Offers = Too Good To Miss Out!. I wrote about how to connect your American Express card to your social media account and how to add offers to your card via Twitter, Facebook, or your americanexpress.com account. Twitter is the easiest method, but some offers are targeted, so you should be logging on to your americanexpress.com account to find and add them. Here’s a run…

Ebates, one of my favorite cash back shopping portals, is running an April Flash Sale. Today only, get 14% cashback at over 200 top stores when you click through their portal. Here’s a small sample of featured 14% cash back merchants. If you’re not familiar with shopping portals, you can read my full primer here. In short, shopping portals are websites that provide links to various retailers’ websites. In return for directing customers to their site, those retailers pay a commission to the portal for each customer that makes a qualifying purchase. The portal then allots a portion of that commission–in the form of points or cash–to the original customer. If you’re not…

Still not sure if my Amazon account was hacked

Like many of you, I do a fair amount of shopping on Amazon. I’m an Amazon Prime subscriber, the prices are good (not as good as they used to be, but still good), and the shipping is fast and convenient. However, this morning, I awoke to find the following unnerving email from them in my inbox: I had not requested any sign in verification code, in fact, I was fast asleep at the time. Needless to say, I was a bit concerned. I was still able to login to my account–my password was unchanged. There were no orders placed. I had a brief exchange with Amazon’s Twitter help team… @AmazonHelp…

New Amex Platinum Metal Cards Already Delayed

Yesterday, the updated benefits for the Platinum Card from American Express went live. One of the new features is the new metal card design shown below. I have no urgent need for a metal version of the card, but I like having new shiny things. So, early yesterday morning, I decided to order a replacement card using the “Card Services” section of my online account. All seemed well at the time. I had two shipping options–both free: USPS standard mail or UPS overnight. Obviously I chose UPS overnight. This evening, when my card hadn’t been delivered yet, I logged onto my American Express account and noticed the following banner: The…

Should You Cancel Sapphire Preferred after getting the Reserve Card?

Congratulations! You’ve been approved for the extremely popular Chase Sapphire Reserve credit card! Now what should you do with the your other Ultimate Rewards earning cards like Freedom and Freedom Unlimited? Should you cancel Sapphire Preferred? The answer is different for each card.
