American Airlines and Hyatt Benefit Partnership

American Airlines and World of Hyatt have partnered up to offer some reciprocal benefits to their elite members. The relationship was announced last month but has now gone live.

Elite members in both the American Airlines AAdvantage and World of Hyatt loyalty programs will earn both WoH points and AA miles on qualifying American flights and Hyatt hotel stays.

New Ways to Earn Points

AAdvantage Gold, Platinum, Platinum Pro, Executive Platinum and ConciergeKey members will be able to earn one AAdvantage bonus mile for every eligible dollar spent at qualifying Hyatt properties. In addition, AA’s ConciergeKey members will receive World of Hyatt Globalist status.

World of Hyatt Discoverist, Explorist and Globalist members will earn one World of Hyatt bonus point for every eligible dollar spent on qualifying American flights.

Among other benefits, Chase World of Hyatt credit card holders automatically get Hyatt Discoverist elite status, allowing them to earn extra points/miles. This reciprocal partnership just made that card more valuable.

Status Challenge Invitations

AAdvantage Platinum, Platinum Pro and Executive Platinum members, and Explorist and Globalist World of Hyatt members will also have the opportunity to participate in limited time status challenges. Upon registering, these elite members will be able to immediately enjoy their new loyalty benefits in the reciprocal program tier as they work to maintain that elite tier status. AAdvantage elite members will have access to World of Hyatt elite status benefits, including a dedicated check-in area, late check-out upon request, room upgrades and free premium internet. World of Hyatt elite members will have access to AAdvantage elite status benefits such as priority boarding, free checked bags, free preferred seats and more.

As an example, I have World of Hyatt Explorist status that I obtained via a status match from MLife Gold. After linking Hyatt and AA, I now have a promotion in my AAdvantage account.

Once I register, I’ll have 3 months of free AAdvantage Gold status. During that time, I’ll need to earn $1,000 EQDs and either 7,000 EQMs or 8 EQSs in order to keep Gold status through January 31, 2021. AAdvantage Gold benefits include:

  • Complimentary upgrades on flights 500 miles or less within North America (confirmed as early as 24 hours before departure)
  • Priority check-in, security and boarding
  • 7 award miles/U.S. dollar (40% bonus)
  • Complimentary access to Preferred seats
  • 1 free checked bag
  • oneworld® Ruby℠ status on partner airlines

Hyatt Globalists are getting an AAdvantage Platinum status challenge, with even better benefits.

If you’re an elite member of either loyalty program, check your emails for the invitation to link your accounts.
