    United Extending Club Pass Expirations

With ongoing travel restrictions during the pandemic, United Airlines is automatically extending the expiration date of United Club one-time passes. United Club one-time passes are a popular annual benefit of the Chase United Explorer and United Business credit cards. According to United’s Twitter account, passes that are set to expire between April 1 and August 31, 2021 will all have a new expiration date of September 30, 2021. My understanding is that this extension is only for passes that have not been extended in the past. This is welcome news from United as most of their United Club lounges remain closed due to COVID-19. These are the only United Club…

New Restriction at Some Priority Pass Lounges

A new restriction has been added to all “The Club” airport lounges in the Priority Pass network. Beginning September 1, 2019, access is permitted 3 hours prior to scheduled flight departure. A similar restriction was recently implemented by American Express at its Centurion Lounges. This was done in an effort to reduce over-crowding. It would appear the reason is the same for “The Club”. The Club has locations at the following U.S. airports: ATL – Atlanta BOS – Boston BWI – Baltimore CHS – Charleston CVG – Cincinnati DFW – Dallas JAX – Jacksonville LAS – Las Vegas MCO – Orlando PIT – Pittsburgh SEA – Seattle SJC – San…

Priority Pass Adds New Restaurant at LAX

Priority Pass continues to add restaurants to it’s airport locations. The newest addition is Point the Way Cafe at LAX International Airport. Point the Way Cafe is located in Terminal 6 between Gates 65A and 65B. Cardholders can use their lounge visit entitlement to receive US$28 per person off the bill. The cafe features flatbreads, sandwiches, and craft beers. You can see a complete list of Priority Pass restaurant locations here. Amex Removing Priority Pass Restaurant Credit Benefit

Effective August 1, 2019, American Express is removing access to non-lounge airport experiences from its credit cards that offer the Priority Pass benefit. “Non-lounge” airport experiences refer to certain restaurants/bars/cafes that participate in the Priority Pass program. So far, no other bank that offers credit cards with the Priority Pass benefit has followed suit. Hopefully, Amex is taking this leap alone. This is clearly a cost-cutting move by American Express. I don’t think each “non-lounge” visit costs Amex any more than a traditional lounge visit, but it’s more easily abused. For instance, restaurant staff may be less likely to check boarding passes, making it easy for a Priority Pass membership…

Chase Offers: $40 Back on DirecTV

I found a Chase Offer in my Chase mobile app for $40 back after spending $20 on DirecTV with my Sapphire Reserve card . This offer is intended for new subscribers. I’ve been with DirecTV for years, but I gave it a shot anyway. Here’s how it went. What are Chase Offers? According to Chase’s FAQ, “Chase Offers brings you great deals from the places you love. No coupons, codes or vouchers to remember, and no registration is required. You just click on an offer to activate it for your card, and then use your card to pay in stores, online or via mobile apps and wallets. You’ll see your…

New Access Restrictions for Amex Centurion Lounges

In an effort to reduce overcrowding at its popular Centurion Lounges, American Express has been piloting various access restrictions in certain airports at certain times. Some of those will now be made permanent. Beginning March 22, 2019, Platinum and Centurion Card Members will only be permitted to access a Centurion Lounge within 3 hours of their scheduled flight departure time or between connecting flights. Card Members will not be permitted access upon arrival at their destination. I’ve seen enough complaints about overcrowding at Centurion Lounges, even while the temporary restrictions have been in place that I’m skeptical that making these permanent will have any noticeable effect. The arrival restriction seems…

Priority Pass Loses Another LAX Restaurant

In an effort to increase its offerings, Priority Pass has been adding restaurants to its list of airport lounges. When dining at these participating venues, you simply order off the menu as you normally would and your Priority Pass membership will provide you and your guests with a credit toward your meal. Unfortunately, these restaurant additions are beginning to mysteriously disappear. Another LAX airport restaurant will no longer be accepting Priority Pass soon. After November 30, 2018, Barney’s Beanery is leaving the network of airport lounges. The restaurant was added to Priority Pass only a few short months ago. This comes on the heels of Campanile’s Restaurant in LAX Terminal…
